Hillrise Cottage is a charming brick and flint cottage built in the 1820s in a quiet location with views across the salt marshes, a ten minute stroll from the beach.

Recently renovated to a high standard and furnished in contemporary style with a mix of old and new, the cottage sleeps 6 in the main house. The separate, single storey annexe provides additional accommodation for two. The cottage is available with or without the annexe.

The accommodation

Entrance lobby with storage and hanging space for boots and coats. Door to spacious, sociable open plan living area with underfloor heating, original pamment flooring and inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove.

Relaxing sitting area with comfortable seating, flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player, ipod docking station, books, games and DVDs. Well equipped kitchen with range of units, wooden worktops, bar stools, Redfyre “Aga style” electric cooker, fridge, freezer, washing machine, microwave, tumble drier and breadmaker. Separate dining area with table and seating:

Outside, reached via a short, flat, well lit, path is a separate centrally heated ground floor annexe with views over the garden, double bed, storage and en suite bathroom with shower, basin and WC.

The pretty, secure, cottage garden is on three levels. At ground level there is a bench seat and table, the perfect spot for a cup of coffee. The garden winds up through beds planted with box hedging, lavender, herbs and roses to a gazebo with seating and lovely views across the marshes and out to sea. Additional garden seating and barbecue provided.

Cley-next-the-Sea

Cley-next-the-Sea is a pretty, unspoilt coastal village on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Once a significant port on the Glaven Estuary, the village is now a mecca for birdwatchers with the award winning RSPB Bird Reserve at Cley Marshes nearby. The village is exceptionally well served with two pubs, both serving food, a smokehouse, delicatessen, bookshop, gallery and café – all within walking distance.

The pretty Georgian market town of Holt, with its shops, restaurants and galleries is four miles away. The beautiful sandy beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham are within easy reach. There is lots to see and do in the area – sailing at Morston, Blakeney and Wells, crabbing at Blakeney, seal trips from Morston to Blakeney Point, golf at Sheringham, eating out at good local restaurants including Michelin starred Morston Hall.
